The UK Government wants to build a motorway through the World Heritage Site 400m south of Stonehenge. 29km of this new motorway will be in a short, bored tunnel. The western end of this tunnel will emerge well within the World Heritage Site, in the middle of the most important barrow cemetery in this pristine landscape.
